I know, you're all just itching to know more about me, who I am, what
I do for a living - why this unnatural obsession with chickens. These
are the questions that people ask me everyday. Usually my wife - and my
boss. And while writing profiles is not my strongest skill, I'll give
it a try.
I'm a thirty-something (wasn't that an annoying show) script programmer
for a major consumer banking company based in the Midwest. I was born
in Virginia, near Richmond, and have lived in 9 (now) states, and in two
different countries (on two separate continents), before finally meandering
my way out here. This is the point where I usually get asked why I moved
to the Midwest - it's my wife's fault. She's very cute, and she stamped
her little foot and told me to. So here I am.
I am the father of three beautiful children - and I will keep on saying
that as long as I am legally obligated to. Seriously, my kids are a joy,
and I love them. Especially now that I can devote all that daycare money
to legos.
I've been building with Legos since I was a kid - since 6 or 7 anyway,
as the bottoms of my parents feet will readily attest to. However, I went
into a dark age in my late 20's, and put my legos away, I thought, for
good. I had other interests, mostly Dungeons and Dragons and computers,
but for some reason I never got rid of the legos I had. I kept them, in
a box, and they moved with me out here when I came. My dark age ended
when Episode II of Star Wars came out. I saw the ARC-170 kit at a local
Wally-world and picked it up, mostly on a whim, and I was once again,
hooked. Just hooked. Since then, I have probably tripled my orignal lego
collection.
My other serious interest is railroading. I've added a section to my website on trains, both prototypcail and model. As I don't have room for an actual model railroad, I'll have to be content with failfanning the Iowa Interstate Railroad and armchair modelling for the time being. As a small child, my grandparents home was right along the main rail line between Richmond, Va and Washington, DC. Watching the trains running back and forth along that line started a love affair that has, like my fascination with Lego blocks, never really died. I hope you also enjoy your journey along with me.
